Psilocybe caerulescens "Mazatecorum x Georgia"#2 is a "locality cross" from Julian Mattucci. Initially Julian purchased what he thought was a dikaryotic culture from a culture bank. After receiving the culture he examined the mycelium only to find that it was actually monokaryotic. There are a number of different scenarios that could lead to this result, but regardless of reason the culture was monkaryon. This culture was paired with monokaryons isolated from spores collected in Georgia to create this beautiful caerulescens! These new "locality crosses" seem to outperform the parent constituents in terms of speed and tenacity to produce fruit. We look forward to exploring this concept further to see what might come of it!
